Medea, Euripides, Kecil Festival, ASWARA, Kuala Lumpur, August 2009
“Medea” is an intercultural experimental project that was performed at the National Academy of Dramatic Art ASWARA as part of the Kecil Festival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in August 2009. The story of Medea is approached through the Malay ritualistic theatres ‘Makyong’ and ‘Randai’ revealing Medea’s dual nature: the betrayed woman and the woman goddess. The myth unfolds in an original performance where ancient Greek drama meets traditional Malay music and dance.
